Orange County Sheriff’s representative reports August enforcement figures for Stanton
Summary
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported 2,605 calls for service in August in Stanton, including 356 traffic citations, 100+ custodial arrests and priority response times; the report noted enforcement stats and special enforcement team activity and that deputies provided about 1,800 additional hours during the month.
A representative of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department gave the council a monthly public-safety report for August at the Sept. 23 meeting.
The report said Stanton deputies responded to 2,605 calls for service in August (an average of 84 calls per day). The tally included 1,197 assigned calls and 1,408 observed calls; deputies conducted 921 patrol checks and made contact in more than 52 pedestrian stops. The department reported more than 300 citations issued and more than 100 custodial arrests (including 39 misdemeanor bookings, 36 felony bookings and 42 warrant bookings). The department also recorded 10 DUI bookings and 356 traffic citations.
Violent and property crimes listed for August included one sexual assault, one robbery, four violent assaults, two burglaries, six thefts and four stolen vehicles. Reported response times were 3 minutes, 58 seconds for priority 1 calls; 12 minutes, 56 seconds for priority 2 calls; and 18 minutes, 41 seconds for priority 3 calls.
Investigations opened 68 new cases and closed 65; 12 cases were filed with the district attorney and investigators made eight arrests based on DA complaints. The special enforcement team reported probation/parole contacts, prostitution contacts, felony and misdemeanor arrests, and vehicle recoveries. The representative said deputies and SET assisted North Narcotics and other units on investigative matters during the month.
Councilmembers thanked deputies for reported enforcement efforts and noted residents’ positive feedback; a councilmember asked for a copy of the report to be circulated to staff for distribution to the council.
