County approves hazardous-materials annex to emergency operations plan

The Bar County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to approve the hazardous materials annex to the Bar County Emergency Operations Plan and authorized the vice chairman to sign the annex with no changes.
County staff told the commissioners that the plan underwent a comprehensive review last year and there were no substantive changes to make for the current year, so staff recommended approval without edits.
Commissioner Mason moved to approve the annex and the board took a roll-call vote. Commissioners Mason, Abraham and Siegfried each voted yes. A staff member explained that the county had the option to approve the annex with no changes for up to three consecutive years but expects to make updates next year following a scheduled review.
The annex is appended to the broader Emergency Operations Plan and is intended to clarify county roles and procedures in hazardous-materials incidents. The board’s authorization allows the vice chairman to sign the annex on behalf of the county so the updated plan component can be distributed to response partners.
