Council grants provisional permit for small-scale documentary filming in Eureka

The Eureka City Council on Sept. 22 provisionally approved a film permit for Raw TV/Raw Stories to film a small-scale documentary in town next Sunday, contingent on the production obtaining private-property permissions and completing required permit paperwork.
Harry Harris, who identified himself as a representative for Raw Stories and said he was currently in Utah, described the project as a documentary about the Susan Powell case and said the shoot is small in scale with minimal anticipated street interruptions. City staff (Scott) and the council said a provisional okay could be given provided the production secures any necessary property-owner permissions and files completed permit documents before filming.
Councilmember Scott Pugh asked the applicant to keep city staff informed; Harry Harris agreed to remain in contact with Scott and to ensure all permissions and insurer/permit requirements are met. A motion to allow the filming next Sunday passed by unanimous voice vote.
The council asked staff to verify that all private-property permissions and traffic/parking needs are resolved before the film crew begins work.
