Commissioners adopt 2026 holiday schedule; Columbus Day returned
The Wichita County Commissioners Court adopted a 2026 holiday schedule identical to the 2025 schedule except Columbus Day was added back and an extra Christmas day previously included in 2025 was removed.

The Wichita County Commissioners Court on Sept. 16 voted 3–0 to adopt the county holiday schedule for calendar year 2026. County staff said the 2026 schedule mirrors the 2025 schedule with one change: Columbus Day was restored to the county holiday list and an extra day that had been added around Christmas in 2025 was removed.
