City approves $5,000 business incentive grant for eco-friendly bin-cleaning startup

At the Sept. 15 meeting the Board of Aldermen approved a $5,000 buy-up grant to BINforce1 LLC after the Rutland Redevelopment Authority recommended the application. Connor Balestra, the applicant, described the business and the capital invested to date.
Balestra told aldermen the service is a curbside trash-bin cleaning operation using hot-water steam and an onboard filtration and recycling system; he emphasized the business uses no chemicals and reuses wastewater captured on the trailer. He said the company also offers soft washing and power-washing for exterior surfaces and has discussed potential contracts for graffiti removal and other municipal needs.
Aldermen approved suspending the rules and then voted to award the $5,000 grant, which will be used for marketing to help grow local awareness of the newly launched service. The board vote was recorded as unanimous at the meeting.
BINforce1 LLC was described in the RA packet as exceeding $25,000 in new private investment; Balestra said startup investment totaled in the tens of thousands for the trailer and equipment. He also said some municipal and private partners have expressed interest in contracting services.
No contract with the city was announced at the meeting.
