Donations and grants bring $95,000-plus to Murray district programs, foundation reports record golf proceeds

Doug Perry, representing the Murray Education Foundation, said the Ron McBride Foundation awarded $45,000 to support after-school programs at Horizon, Parkside and Hillcrest, continuing a relationship that had begun in a smaller amount the prior year. Perry also said Boeing Corporation awarded Murray High School $50,000 to support a “Kick Start” robotics program overseen by Connor Winder, with special thanks to Susan Edmonds for leading the grant effort. Perry reported the foundation’s golf tournament raised a record $33,357 net, a 25% increase over the prior year, and that the foundation awarded about 130 teacher grants totaling nearly $70,000 this year. He said the foundation’s fundraising and grant review committee had expanded support and that other events — Angel Tree, Pinnacle Award nominations and a January pickleball tournament — are on the calendar. Board members thanked foundation representatives and district staff for securing grants and noted the anticipated student benefit from expanded STEM and after‑school offerings.
