Second reading set for updated weapons policy with safe-storage and facility-use clarifications

Legal counsel supported adding certain administrative-discretion language that allows a principal or designee to exercise judgment regarding student possession and consequences.
Ending: Staff said they have incorporated MSBA and legal counsel input and can take the policy to the consent agenda for the full board if the committee has no further changes. The policy will return as required for final action on the district’s regular meeting agenda.
