Tulare County proclaims October 2025 as National 4‑H Week

The Tulare County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 21 recognized Oct. 5–11, 2025, as National 4‑H Week in the county, highlighting local participation and a new robotics partnership.

The board read and approved a proclamation noting that Tulare County 4‑H involves 497 youth and more than 132 adult volunteers across 12 local clubs, and that 4‑H is delivered through the Cooperative Extension System. Lionel Jimenez, area director for Cooperative Extension in Tulare County, told the board the program has been active in the county for more than 100 years and said UC‑level partners are adding a robotics project this year.

The proclamation says 4‑H supports hands‑on projects in health, science, agriculture and civic engagement and cited the national theme “Beyond Ready.” Jimenez described a new partnership bringing robotics into 4‑H, saying Alba Creek (club) will pilot the robotics project in partnership with university staff. He thanked Tulare County staff who support the program and noted a currently open position in the Cooperative Extension office that is assisting with program delivery.

Supervisors and staff invited 4‑H youth and volunteers to come forward for a group photograph after the proclamation was read. The board’s proclamation was dated Oct. 21, 2025, and bears the signatures listed in the meeting record.
