Local nonprofit asks Enterprise board to partner on anti‑trafficking programs

Joseph Sharafi, founder of the Stop the Traffic Foundation, addressed the Enterprise Town Advisory Board during the public‑comment period on May 28 and asked for partnership from local businesses, the county and the community to combat child human trafficking.

Sharafi said Las Vegas has “one of the highest trafficking rates in the country,” cited a 2023 figure attributed to Shared Hope International and stated that the FBI reported 86% of trafficked children come from foster care. He described the nonprofit’s work to revive Clark County’s former Safe Place program, to train gas stations, libraries and businesses to assist children in crisis, and to pursue pilot programs for mobile vehicle scanners. Sharafi said his group is not requesting funding but is seeking partnerships, locations for Safe Place sites and support for awareness screenings of an award‑winning film the organization has screened in public venues.

The board accepted the comment for the record; no action was taken because public‑comment items do not permit board votes. A board member confirmed the organization’s name on the record as Stop the Traffic Foundation.
