Construction update: roofing, glazing and sitework progressing; stadium groundbreaking underway

Bridal said roofing work and glazing (curtain walls) have started across campuses and that interior finishes—sheet rock, tile and brick—are progressing at Fairview and Heritage. An outdoor learning center has begun at the new elementary campus. Sherman High School additions show the south addition slightly ahead of the north; framing and early roofing activities are under way. The stadium groundbreaking has begun and the team has started underground utilities; existing bleachers will be repurposed on a subfield while new construction proceeds.
Trustee questions focused on timeline coordination with the academic calendar and drop‑off/pickup logistics. Bridal said the construction team targets student return dates and will work weekdays to clear traffic paths during arrival and dismissal windows. "They're looking more for the kids to start back that that point than the teachers coming back to work because they can work around the teachers coming in and working in the building and stuff like that," Bridal said. The owner‑architect‑contractor (OAC) team meets weekly on Thursdays to refine schedule and sequencing.
Why it matters: multiple campuses will be occupied while finishing work continues; trustees want assurance that drives, parking and playgrounds will be safe and functional when students return. Bridal told the board crews paused work during cold weather when HVAC systems and masonry work required minimum temperatures.
Next steps: weekly OAC meetings will continue and staff will provide schedule updates to the board; Bridal said landscaping and non‑critical exterior work will be scheduled outside student arrival/dismissal periods when necessary.
