Construction staff told the board that the work will include large-format renovations to HVAC and electrical systems, fire sprinkler and alarm replacement, removal of portables, and significant shutdown coordination at the existing facility. Project staff said the district will bring a CMAR on board early to help plan sequencing and develop accurate cost estimates prior to schematic-design approval; schematic design will be presented to the board in June.
District officials described the proposed storm shelter as roughly 32,000 square feet with an expected opening in 2027. Administration recommended CMAR as the most appropriate procurement method given the scale and schedule, and trustees approved the recommendation on a motion by Mr. Rose seconded by Miss Collier; the motion carried 7—0.
