District 88 officials invited Addison‑area employers to a free work‑based learning event scheduled for Aug. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the district office, the district announced at its Aug. 11 Board of Education meeting. The event is being organized in partnership with the newly formed Addison Business Exchange.
District staff said the goal is to connect companies with students across 18 career pathways so businesses can offer internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, field trips, mentoring and other workplace learning. Staff said the district can accommodate in‑person, hybrid or virtual arrangements and encouraged businesses to register via the district website at dupage88.net.
“Please feel free to reach out to me, Danny Brink, and I’d be happy to get you signed up,” a district staff member said during the meeting, inviting RSVPs and thanking the board and administration for their support.
Board members did not take formal action on the announcement; the presentation was informational and intended to broaden employer engagement in the district’s college‑and‑career readiness initiatives.
The district did not provide a list of participating employers at the meeting; registration instructions and a link are posted on the district website.
