Board appoints assistant administrator as interim county administrator starting Sept. 27

The Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 19 voted unanimously to appoint Assistant County Administrator Mr. Furry to serve as acting County Administrator beginning Sept. 27 and continuing until the board appoints a permanent county administrator. Commissioners said the appointment is intended to avoid a leadership gap when the current county administrator departs at the end of September and while the board completes its recruitment process. Commissioner Perkins moved the appointment and Commissioner Hale seconded; the motion passed 5-0. The board instructed staff to publish the interim appointment and continue the county administrator recruitment; the appointment will remain in effect until the board formally selects and appoints a new full-time county administrator.
