The Board approved a policy approval consent agenda on Aug. 13 that includes revised and new policies to be posted for public review, among them an updated policy on access to electronic networks that contains new language addressing artificial intelligence‑enabled tools. A board member asked whether the new language would require substantial administrative procedure changes or conflict with existing handbooks. Dr. Schuler said the district’s HR policy committee reviewed the changes and concluded the update is "complimentary" of current practices and that the area is "an evolving space" that will require ongoing review. "I think right now, we are in a good place with that," he said. The package of 12 revised or new policies will be posted for public comment as the next step in the district’s policy review process.
