County IT outlines Windows 11 rollout, phone migration and forensic‑lab software fixes

Jerry Cline, director of county IT (CCIT), told the Infrastructure Committee on Sept. 4 that CCIT is rolling out a large Windows 11 update (24H2) that will affect roughly 2,300 managed computers and must be completed by Nov. 10. Cline said the release can take up to 90 minutes on some machines and that typically 20–25% of devices require follow‑up because they fail to install on the first pass.
Cline said about 20 machines remain on Windows 10; those exceptions have been researched and are not expected to block the broader rollout. He also reported follow‑up work with the forensic science center on software issues, engagement on a PAC system contract, and a newly executed contract with CDW to migrate the county’s on‑premise Cisco phone system to a cloud solution; kickoff for that project is scheduled within the coming week.
Cline said CCIT is working with finance on budget tools (Workday/Adaptive and Gravity) and that ongoing fiber work continues as construction season progresses. He reported a recent fiber cut and an instance of a fiber line installed inside private property without authorization, which CCIT is addressing.
Supervisor Dickinson asked whether storage limits would prevent updates on some PCs; Cline said the remaining Windows 10 machines were understood and typically offline or atypical devices. No committee action was required; the segment was an informational update.
