Council selects title services provider for TDEM Hazard Mitigation acquisition program

The City of Orange selected Colin Smith Abstract & Title to provide title services in support of a Texas Department of Emergency Management Hazard Mitigation Grant Program acquisition (DR-4332-108); staff said the procurement received a single proposal and homeowner participation in acquisitions is voluntary.
Council approved a resolution authorizing selection of a title services provider to support property acquisitions under the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, Acquisition DR-4332-108. Staff said the program targets the voluntary acquisition of repetitively flooded properties; homeowners may choose whether to participate.
Miss Zito told council the city had solicited proposals and received one response, and staff recommended awarding title services to Colin Smith Abstract & Title. "We only got 1 proposal, so staff recommends go ahead and award this to Colin Smith, abstract and title," she said. Council approved the recommendation by recorded aye votes.
Staff noted the program has been under way for some time and those interested should check with the grant administrator for current availability; Miss Zito said the program "is closing" but encouraged residents to contact the grant administrator for status.
