County selects engineering firm for CDBG septic replacement program

The committee approved entering a contract to support a Community Development Block Grant‑funded septic replacement program that will address septic systems for low- and moderate-income households. Staff said the county was awarded $400,000 for the program and solicited engineering services to assist with the design, review and approvals needed for approximately 12 to 14 households. Planning staff told the committee they made a selection and will present detailed contract terms to the full board. Supervisor Wilde moved the resolution to enter the contract; Supervisor Descedo seconded. Committee members were told this CDBG award covers project costs and that county general funds are not being deployed for the septic replacements. Staff said the typical income threshold for CDBG housing assistance defaults to households at or below 80% of area median income (AMI) and that final eligibility will be determined during applicant intake and technical review. The committee approved the motion.
