City staff said the agreements, originally executed in 2021, were intentionally written to expire June 30, 2025 to allow a new contract aligned with the city's fiscal year. The new combined agreement increases monthly rent to $475 and adds $200 per month for shared utilities for a total of $675 monthly. Staff said pricing for travel-lift services and other charges were updated to reflect increases across the board.
All modifications have been discussed and agreed to by both parties, staff said, and the longer term was requested by the operator to provide greater business stability. Staff noted that annual rent increases are contractually tied to the State of Michigan rate of inflation posted each October.
A council motion to approve the lease agreement, with the stated rental and term changes, passed by voice vote. Staff said the combined agreement simplifies administration and better aligns the lease with the city's fiscal year.
