Talent council studies draft master plan to restore historic town hall

Councilors reviewed a draft master plan outlining structural repairs, accessibility upgrades and a phased restoration for Talent’s 4,807-square-foot historic town hall. Staff said the plan is a “living document,” that funding will be sought through multiple grants and that no formal adoption is requested at this time.

The Talent City Council studied a draft master plan on March 5 proposing phased restoration of the city’s historic town hall, a 4,807-square-foot wood-frame building originally built in 1899 with additions from 1927 and 1954. City staff described foundation failure, roof and gutter damage, interior plaster and floor settlement, asbestos-containing materials and tree roots affecting drainage as primary problems that require immediate and long-term work.
