Barry, a public works staff member, told the council the department has staffing shortages and several near-term capital and maintenance projects underway. The city interviewed three candidates for an asset-management position and planned a hiring decision within the week; the engineering position will be re-advertised after receiving a single applicant. A wastewater treatment plant operator recently resigned and the city plans to fill that vacancy.
