Board authorizes due diligence on potential property, continues architect selection process

At a prior planning session, five architectural firms presented proposals to the board. During the meeting the superintendent reminded members that those presentations remain under consideration and suggested follow-up interviews could occur at the board's pleasure. Separately, board members discussed a specific parcel the district had reviewed for potential facility use; one motion directed district staff to begin due diligence on the property, including possible memoranda of understanding and site work such as geotechnical testing.
Board member Stephen Ayers made a motion to begin the due diligence process on the property; Jeff White seconded. The board approved the motion by voice vote, 6-0. The superintendent said representatives from Hewlett Spencer (an architectural/engineering firm) were present and would be notified about the board's direction.
No purchase, contract award or funds were authorized at the meeting; the vote authorized due diligence steps and future reporting back to the board.
