Elgin Public Library has opened a makerspace stocked with fabrication and textile equipment and announced plans to automate some doors and restrooms to improve accessibility, library representative Heather Fowler said during a recorded conversation on a local podcast. The library also has a peer support specialist available to patrons and is using a grant to add a sensory area in its children’s section.
