At the same time, trustees noted that the district has better real-time communication tools now (email, text, social media) and asked whether a delayed-start model could reduce instructional time lost on days with morning cold that quickly moderates by midday.
Direction to staff: the superintendent and administrative team were asked to draft a tentative delayed-start schedule showing bus timings and the likely operational impacts and to describe when a delayed start would be used (for example temperature-based thresholds vs. road-closure or wind/drift conditions). Trustees suggested the administration also present a parent-facing communication script and consider a short community survey or pilot trial.
No formal policy change was adopted. Trustees asked the administration to bring a proposed delayed-start plan, with temperature/road condition thresholds and communications guidance, to a future meeting for board review and public input.
