The Olivet City Council voted Aug. 26 to adopt Bill 30‑50, which amends Title 5 (building and construction) to add Article 2 to Chapter 500 and updates Chapter 506 to the 2021 International Fire Code standards for smoke detection and alarm systems in corridors. Assistant Fire Chief Timothy Fain and Fire Chief Steve Carmen presented the ordinance as a coordinated fire‑and‑building code amendment.
