County adopts updated hazardous materials emergency response promulgation statement

On Aug. 14 the Greene County Board of Commissioners adopted the county's updated hazardous materials emergency response plan promulgation statement as the final step in a multi-stakeholder update process.

County staff said the plan update involved emergency management staff, city managers and any local officials with a role in critical-incident response; the promulgation statement formalizes the county's adoption of the updated plan. "It's time again to renew our, hazardous materials emergency response plan through the county. This is the last step," staff told the board.

Commissioners moved to adopt the plan and the attached promulgation statement and the board approved the motion by recorded ayes from commissioners present. Staff said the plan update followed meetings, surveys and stakeholder input from across the county and that implementation responsibilities remain with emergency management and partner agencies.

The adoption is a routine but necessary action to keep the county's response framework current; no changes to funding were recorded during the meeting. Staff will proceed with implementation and continued coordination with city and county emergency partners.
