Council approves requests for proposals for auditing and engineering services

City Administrator explained the current audit contract ended after a buyout of the previous local firm by a national company and said staff will seek a three-year contract (expandable to five) and will post the RFP on municipal and regional sites. The council moved to publish a request for proposals for audit services; the motion was seconded and carried by unanimous voice vote.
On engineering, the council approved issuing a request for qualifications for engineering services to identify a firm (or firms) that can serve as the city’s engineering firm of record for water, sewer and other infrastructure projects. Councilors discussed the benefits of retaining a firm with historical knowledge of local systems but favored competitive solicitation. The motion to request qualifications was approved unanimously.
Both actions direct staff to return with recommended firms and contract terms for council approval.
