Engine Arts students plan March performance exploring Poughkeepsie history

Brad New, business manager for Engine Arts, and Jacob Lewis, a junior at Poughkeepsie High School, told the Poughkeepsie Public Arts Commission about a student-centered performance scheduled for Saturday, March 22, at 3 p.m. at Living Water Church.
Jacob Lewis described the group as a "co-creation" ensemble of Poughkeepsie High students and visiting musicians that uses music to explore local history and community themes. "I'm currently a junior at Poughkeepsie High. I love music, I pretty much been playing it my whole life," Lewis said.
New said Engine Arts receives support from Artsmith Hudson and the New York Council on the Arts, and thanked the commission for past support. The performance is free and family friendly; organizers invited commissioners and residents to attend. Commissioners praised the group's youth engagement and offered to help connect students with venues and future programming opportunities.
