Atlantic County introduces new emergency management coordinator Michael Steinman

Michael Steinman will assume the position of county coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management in Atlantic County on June 1, county staff said at Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
The county official introducing him thanked outgoing coordinator Vince Jones for long service and explained the OEM coordinator works closely with the New Jersey State Police and the regional operations center in West Trenton. “I met Mike Steinman when he was chief of police for Acre Harbor Township, and his performance was exemplary,” the introducer said.
Steinman, who has served as deputy director of the county OEM for two years, told commissioners, “I certainly do have very large shoes to fill replacing Vince,” and said he expects a smooth transition with Jones available for advice. “I hope for a future of very limited emergencies,” Steinman added.
Chairman and several commissioners welcomed Steinman; board members noted the office reports to the county’s head of public safety and that the commissioners do not vote on the county executive’s selection.
