Craig said meetings have included detailed site‑plan discussion and staff‑produced charts. The comprehensive‑plan subcommittee next meets March 6 and plans to cover agriculture, natural resources, education, economic development, tourism, housing, public safety, health and county agencies; Craig said the towns sent representatives to a recent meeting and that the town participants were engaged and eager to coordinate.
Transportation presentations from VDOT and VTrans, and an airport briefing, were cited as especially useful context. Craig and other commissioners urged that the VDOT‑related materials be presented to the full commission once the subcommittee completes a draft so the county can obtain formal VDOT review. Craig also said she attended a Virginia Association of Zoning Officials meeting and offered to consolidate notes for the commission on data center trends and regulatory issues.
No formal actions were taken on zoning or the comprehensive plan at the work session; subcommittees will continue detailed review and return recommendations when ready.
