Chris White said Sims “was the highest scoring” among the candidates and noted he has been “well respected by the department.” The administration said it will bring a temporary promotion for council approval at the next meeting and that Sims has been performing the lieutenant duties informally.
On municipal staffing, the administration proposed making Nick Krogowski a full-time municipal program assistant (an entry-level civil-service title) to support the HR director, Sarah Morris, and finance; Krogowski has worked part time for three years, recently graduated in cybersecurity and has been digitizing departmental records. The administration said the position can be funded within the current budget and that Krogowski will initially serve a probationary period per civil-service rules.
On the planning board, staff said James (Jim) Ueland applied previously and is now available; he works in lighting and theatrical/architectural lighting and would be a lay appointment rather than a professional appointee. Council members supported moving him forward.
