County facilities: new courthouse statue installed; multi‑roof replacement project set to begin in late May

County facilities staff updated commissioners that a statue and concrete slab have been installed at the courthouse, sprinkler systems are functional and a separate project to replace multiple small roofs on the courthouse and jail is scheduled to begin in late May.

Facilities staffer Chris said the statue project is “done as far as we've got statue. And we've got slab, sprinklers are all working.” Staff also reported the contractor for a multi‑roof replacement project had scheduled a tentative start date around May 19; staff said the contractor would confirm a firm date and that if the May start held the roofing work could be completed by June.

The roofing project will cover multiple small roofs including the courthouse courtroom roof, the main courthouse roof, the elevator and main entrance canopies, both sides of the jail and the jail lobby roof. Staff said the contractor will protect landscaping and place plywood where lifts will cross grassy areas. Staff also noted some flashing and fascia will be replaced as needed once the roofs are opened for replacement.

Commissioners thanked staff for completing the statue work and discussed scheduling and logistics so courthouse operations and deliveries are not disrupted. No formal action was required; staff will confirm a start date with the roofing contractor and notify commissioners of the schedule.
