Keith County commissioners adopt 2022 Local Emergency Operations Plan

Emergency Manager Dave Kling told the board the county had been operating on an older plan and that a 2022 online version had not been formally adopted by the board. Commissioners were presented a resolution to approve the 2022 LEOP, which the meeting record shows "supersedes all the previous approved Keith County local emergency operations plans." The board then asked for a motion.
Commissioner Irvin moved to approve the resolution; Schroeder seconded. The board recorded a unanimous roll-call vote in favor (Ortman: yes; Anderson: yes; Schroeder: yes; Irvin: yes; Crandall: yes). The resolution will bring the county’s emergency plan list into alignment with the updated, online 2022 document.
Kling told commissioners the plan update had been completed earlier and the outstanding step was formal board adoption; he apologized for the oversight and said the county would next follow the normal schedule for future updates. The LEOP adoption was presented under state procedural authority, which Kling referenced as the basis for the county’s responsibility to maintain and adopt a local emergency plan.
The board did not take other policy actions tied to the LEOP at the same meeting.
