The recommendation named a single contractor; the transcript of the meeting uses inconsistent spellings of the firm’s name (the staff report refers to “Burdick Company,” one council member said “Burdett,” and the motion presented to the council named “Verdict Company”). The council’s motion authorized the city administrator to execute a contract with the selected firm.
Councilmember Ken Pulasic praised the selection process and the chosen firm’s early work in the city, saying, “They are passionate about our city, they’ve already pre walked our parks, had some really great ideas already to go forward, so I think the citizens will be really pleased.”
Councilmember Kevin Haddis, who helped score proposals, said the rubric and selection process made it possible to compare proposals thoroughly and that the plan will rely on community input. “This is your park’s master plan, not Councilman Pulasic’s and I’s master plan,” Haddis said, encouraging residents to participate in future outreach.
Staff indicated the selected firm will lead public engagement and produce a master plan intended to guide park improvements and programming across the city. The council did not spell out a contract amount, schedule of deliverables, or final firm name in the verbal record; those details are to be finalized in the contract the city administrator is authorized to sign.
The council approved the motion by voice vote.
