Carter Park resident reports volunteer-driven cleanup, code-enforcement progress

David Martinez, who said he founded the Carter Park neighborhood association, told the City Council that neighborhood volunteers and city services have produced observable improvements in the Carter Park area.
Martinez said Districts 8, 9 and 11 include Carter Park and that coordinated efforts with code enforcement and police liaisons have reduced trash, improved park cleanliness and addressed motel nuisance issues. He said volunteers used to fill nearly three trailers on cleanup days but recently could not fill a trailer, which he cited as evidence of progress.
Martinez also said Sequoia Vasquez Park is moving forward and that funding for the park “went over $5,000,000,” as he put it. He said the neighborhood is planning a Native American powwow, the first in Fort Worth since 1996, and that he is running for president of the Carter Park Neighborhood Association.
Martinez framed his remarks as neighborhood-led success in working with city departments; his comments were delivered as public testimony and no council action followed during the session.
