Park County Solid Waste Board recommends Dave Matthews for appointment

The Park County Solid Waste Board voted unanimously to recommend that county commissioners appoint Dave Matthews to the Solid Waste Board after members reviewed his application and resume.

Board members said the recommendation will be forwarded to the county commissioners for final appointment. The recommendation passed on a roll-call vote after a motion to accept Matthews’ application and recommend his appointment.

Kemp O'Neil, a member of the Solid Waste Board, moved to accept the application and recommend appointment to the commission; Tom Burns, a board member, seconded the motion. Chair Tim Miller called the roll: Tim Miller — aye; Tom Burns — aye; Kemp O'Neil — aye; Dave Sarazen — aye. The motion passed.

Members noted that Matthews’ application and a cover letter were attached to the meeting agenda. The application describes more than 33 years of experience with Price Gregory International (PGI), including service as vice president and Alaska division manager; retirement in 2014; and subsequent consulting work. The application says Matthews served as program manager for the $250,000,000 McCushkin geothermal project in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands for the conceptual phase through the final investment decision and lists leadership roles with industry organizations and training institutions. The application also lists a bachelor of science in civil engineering.

Board members said Matthews has attended at least one prior board meeting. A member summarized that he is semi-retired and continues to undertake consulting work related to construction and project management.

Carly (staff) said the board’s recommendation will be presented to the county commissioners “this coming Tuesday” for final appointment.
