Commissioners approve DPHHS immunization program task order; county funding cut noted

Park County commissioners voted to sign an annual task order from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services to continue the county immunization program.
Travis, the county health department representative, told commissioners the task order outlines deliverables the county health department is expected to perform, including inspections and recordkeeping related to immunizations. He said the task order removes a prior deliverable tied to a state immunization database update and that the funding amount identified in the task order is “a significant drop from previous years with primarily, I believe, because the COVID dollar is being taken out of it.”
Commissioner Vermillion said she reviewed the task order and emphasized the program’s role in inspecting child-care facilities and serving underprivileged and elderly residents who may be unable to afford vaccines. A motion to sign the DPHHS immunization program task order passed by voice vote; commissioners did not amend the deliverables during the meeting.
The health department will proceed under the task order and adjust program planning to the smaller allocation identified in the document.
