Board reports closed‑session settlements: workers' comp and litigation approvals disclosed

At the conclusion of closed session on March 18 the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors' counsel reported the board approved two settlements and provided direction to staff.

County counsel reported that, in a 4–0 closed‑session vote, the board authorized a compromise and release settlement for a workers' compensation claim (Steve Larman v. County of Sonoma, WC20220363) in the amount of $158,303, less permanent disability advances, and directed the human resources director or designee to execute necessary documents.

Counsel also reported that, in a 4–0 vote, the board approved a settlement resolving litigation titled Sonoma et al. v. Ralph Anderson and Associates, Doug Johnson et al., Contra Costa County Superior Court No. C22‑02382. The settlement amount reported to the board totals $750,000, inclusive of attorneys' fees and costs, and authorized the county human resources director, the Water Agency general manager, the Community Development Commission executive director and the Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District general manager to execute settlement documents.

Counsel additionally reported a closed‑session agenda item involving an appointment (Health Officer) where "no reportable action was taken" and direction was given to staff.
