Design review code hearing continued after wrong attachment; council sets May 27 continuation

The Edmonds City Council opened a public hearing May 13 on proposed updates to the city's design review code but continued the hearing to the May 27 meeting after staff acknowledged the packet contained the wrong code attachment.
Mike Ludston of Planning and Development told the council the packet mistakenly included "the bridal housing code" rather than the intended design review code. "Apologies for that," Ludston told the council, and staff recommended taking testimony tonight and continuing the hearing to May 27 when the correct materials would be included.
One in-person speaker, Margie Fields, raised concerns about open space, permeable surface limits and whether recent infill work was exceeding the community's expected coverage rules. "I just wanna remind you, we can't cover up every square inch," Fields said, and asked for clarity on coverage limits and how those rules would be enforced.
Council President Tibbitt moved to continue the hearing to May 27; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said the packet for the May 27 meeting will include the correct design review code language and attachments for the council and public to review before the continued hearing.
