Williamson County opens construction bids; tabulation to be posted online

A staff member, meeting facilitator for Williamson County, opened a public bid-opening on May 13, 2025, and county procurement staff read seven contractor bids for a county construction project.

"We're open the bids in the order they were received. Our first first bid today is from Smith Haifley of Marion, Illinois," the procurement staff said while reading the submissions and the bid security information.

The procurement staff announced the bidders and the amounts as read into the record: Smith Haifley of Marion, Illinois (base bid read as $2,530,000); HE Mitchell Construction of Harrisburg (base bid read in the transcript with unclear punctuation, read as "2,000,500 hundred $44,000"); Johannes Construction of Centralia (base bid read as $2,586,000); Heartland Services of Tamara (base bid read as $2,690,550); Shores Builders of Centralia (base bid read as $2,553,000); and Fager McGee Commercial Construction of Murfreesboro (base bid read as $2,436,000). The reader also announced alternate bid line items and unit prices as they appeared on each bid form.

A county staff member said the bids would be tabulated and made public: "I do need to I'll have this tabulated and posted our website this afternoon, not first thing in the morning," the staff member said. The meeting record shows the board will take the bids under advisement and later make an announcement, but no contract award or other decision was announced at the bid-opening.

There was a brief administrative motion to adjourn that was moved and seconded on the record; the transcript does not record a roll-call vote before the meeting ended.
