Marshfield seeks master plan for joint fire training center with Mid-State Technical College

Marshfield staff recommended hiring Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH) to develop a master plan for a proposed fire training center on South Vine Avenue in partnership with Mid-State Technical College.
Steve Barg, the city administrator, told the preview committee that a multi-stakeholder selection committee evaluated proposals and recommended SEH with a fee not to exceed $26,750. Barg said other proposals had higher fees “upwards of $70,000 or more” and that SEH’s scope of services fit the city’s needs for a comprehensive design.
The planned training center would provide simulation space and scenario-based exercises for local fire training and is a combined project with Mid-State Technical College, Barg said. Staff described the intent as developing a master plan this summer and returning to the council with next steps.
No formal council vote was recorded on the preview; staff presented the committee’s recommendation for council consideration.
