Board approves Titan TV tier-2 guide contract for two years

The Elko County TV District board voted to approve a two-year contract with Titan TV at the higher “tier 2” level, which provides an on-screen search bar and up to 14 days of program listings for the district’s guide.

Carol Shepherd, attending on Zoom from Titan TV, explained tier 2’s features and pricing to the board and said the district can order guide channels in any order and add additional channels as needed.

“This gives you a search bar. You can search for a specific show or program and see up to 14 days in advance,” Shepherd said.

Board members discussed occasional inaccuracies in guide listings for Utah-sourced channels and asked Titan representatives to investigate mismatches shown on some smart-TV platforms. Shepherd acknowledged there can be third-party guide-data providers used by smart-TV manufacturers and offered to research the feed accuracy.

A board member moved to adopt the tier-2 option at $1,000 per year; the motion carried by voice vote. District staff will finalize the contract and coordinates follow-up conversations about public-access channel options and potential ad-support models.

Titan representatives also offered to consult about building a local public-access channel and to share examples of other community channels that use Titan’s services.

The board’s decision replaces the lower-cost tier-1 option previously used.
