Kittitas County Chamber reports grant bids for solid-waste, law enforcement and broadband accelerator projects

Amy McGuffin, CEO and president of the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce, gave a countywide grant update during public comment on April 1. She said the chamber's grant writer has been pursuing infrastructure and other grants for local governments and nonprofits.
McGuffin said the chamber applied for approximately $4.9 million in solid-waste funding and has submitted JAG grant applications supporting the sheriff's office and the city of Cle Elum that together account for about $250,000 in eligible funding. She also said the chamber pursued an RDBG application tied to biomass efforts and noted work on congressional direct-spending applications for South Tuyama drinking-water projects.
McGuffin said the chamber continues to advance accelerator projects in Cle Elum, Ellensburg and Kittitas, and is coordinating with partners including Yakama Nation and Legend Casino to upgrade a classroom in Kittitas to provide free broadband access for entrepreneurship and workforce development.
She asked if the commissioners had questions and noted that several grant award decisions are anticipated around April 15.
