Clark County advisory panel finalizes climate-policy recommendations; majority of items win consensus

The Clark County Community Advisory Group completed its final meeting April 7, 2025, and forwarded its recommendations on a draft climate element for the county’s comprehensive plan to the Planning Commission and County Council. Facilitator Sylvia Chibrowski opened the session from the hearing room, thanking members and outlining the day’s voting on 160 draft goals and policies.

The advisory group’s work is the product of about 18 months of meetings, subcommittee work and surveys. Jenna (county staff member) told the group the policies under consideration were unchanged from the version circulated last month and were intended to implement House Bill 1181 and to support county goals for greenhouse gas and vehicle-miles-traveled reductions. The project was funded in part through provisions of the Washington Climate Commitment Act, staff said.

Why it matters: The CAG’s recommendations will be packaged into a proposed climate element that the Planning Commission will review and that County Council will ultimately approve, amend or reject.
