County to switch phone system to RingCentral April 1; IT manager named web accessibility coordinator

Harrison County will move its phone system to RingCentral beginning March 31'April 1, county IT Manager Charles Nininger told the commissioners on March 25, and the court named Nininger the county's Web Accessibility Coordinator.
Nininger said departments reviewed and signed off on menu call flows and that the vendor will begin porting county numbers. "We've been approved to go live with RingCentral phone system on 04/01/2025," IT Manager Charles Nininger said. He warned that some locations'notably the courthouse site with a small local vendor (Wascam)'may require parallel lines or dual-number arrangements while the county updates web notices to show new numbers. Nininger said inbound calls may not reach staff until numbers are fully ported and advised staff to use the RingCentral application on phones or computers for outbound/internal calling during the transition.
Nininger also said the county plans to stop renewing Zoom licenses because RingCentral can provide video conferencing; staff training on RingCentral's advanced functions will follow the switch. Commissioners voted 4-0 to designate Charles Nininger as the county's Web Accessibility Coordinator.
Ending: IT staff will proceed with the porting schedule, publish phone-number changes as needed, and offer training after the initial rollout; commissioners approved the accessibility designation to ensure web compliance work has an accountable contact.
