Delta County accepts opioid task force recommendations, awards $92,492 to five programs

The task force, which serves in an advisory capacity, vetted applications using a rubric and recommended awards in order to maximize longevity of the county’s opioid-response funds. A task-force representative told commissioners the group set a fiscal-year disbursement limit “of up to $100,000 per fiscal year” so funds would be available over an 18-year period.
Commissioners approved the task force’s recommended awards to VC Addiction Now; Escondido Public Safety; Delta Regional Child Advocacy Center; 90 fourth District Court (as stated in the packet/transcript); and Great Lakes Recovery Center for a combined total of $92,492. The commission also directed administration to send denial letters to applicants who were not selected and encourage them to reapply; the task force had recommended that unsuccessful applicants receive feedback explaining reasons for denial to improve future applications.
The task-force representative noted the timing for this award cycle is compressed: recipients must spend the awarded funds by Sept. 30, 2025. The group received 15 applications and recommended five in order to remain under the $100,000 cap for the fiscal year.
The board approved the recommendation by voice vote. Administration will send award and denial letters and track compliance with the spending deadline.
