Lawrence County commissioners approve resurfacing contracts, property purchase, workforce MOU and two resolutions

The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners on an April morning meeting in South Point approved a series of routine and substantive actions, including two road-resurfacing contract awards to The Shelley Company, a $300,000 real estate purchase contract with the City of Ironton, and a memorandum of understanding on workforce services. Commissioners also adopted resolutions recognizing National Public Health Week and expressing support for alternative energy development.

The actions were taken during the board’s weekly meeting held at The Shakery in South Point. County Engineer Patrick Lydie presented the bid recommendations for county resurfacing projects; Dylan Bentley, acting county administrator, presented appropriations and the workforce MOU; Joel Hackworth, director of the Lawrence County One-Stop, presented the workforce MOU; and the board voted by roll call for each item.

Most items passed unanimously. The workforce memorandum of understanding for state fiscal year identified in the meeting as “2627” was approved by a 2–0 vote with Commissioner Finley recorded as abstaining.
