Liberty Academy reports rising enrollment, graduations and program next steps

District officials updated the Oldham County Board of Education on Liberty Academy, the district’s alternative/online program, saying enrollment has grown since the fall and the school will hold at least one spring graduation.
Mister Robson said the program opened last fall with an initial expectation of 30–40 students but registered more than expected; spring enrollment increased by 27 and the current total is 91 students. He reported that four students had graduated earlier with board‑approved hardship graduation requests and that several others are transitioning to college or the workforce.
Robson said 12% of Liberty students returned from private or home schools, and that course completion rates are generally strong: at one point there were roughly 440 course enrollments with 13 failing; more recently the presenter reported 916 course enrollments with 24 failing, 338 passing but behind pace, and 510 passing and ahead or on pace. He said most students work about four to six hours a day on coursework; students working ahead may spend six to eight hours per day.
Robson told the board the district is evaluating next steps, including whether to add elementary grades and whether Liberty should offer AP and dual‑credit courses. He also recommended a staffing analysis if projected enrollment holds or grows to 20–25 students per grade level.
Board members had no follow‑up action at the meeting; Robson said the district would return with planning details and a recommended staffing model if expansion proceeds.
