Highline School District staff presented an introduction to Elevation, a data and case‑management tool the district plans to use for multilingual‑learner (ML) services.
District staff explained that demographic and achievement data stored in the district’s student information system (Synergy) will flow nightly into Elevation so ML specialists can more efficiently identify students, create instructional groups, and add intervention details. Bernard, who led the explanation, said the tool is intended to reduce spreadsheet work, centralize student groupings and enable progress tracking.
District staff described a phased implementation: initial activation and data flow checks, an extended June orientation and a September launch for secondary ML specialists, followed by weekly check‑ins through the fall. After secondary staff are using the tool, the plan calls for rolling the system out to elementary ML specialists and broader teacher supports. The district said training and coaching were budgeted into the contract term and that use of Elevation would be evaluated before longer‑term commitments.
Board members asked about duplicate data entry and training. Staff said Synergy will feed Elevation nightly, reducing the need for duplicate entry, and described the training cadence for specialists and teachers.
