Commissioners approve Schaeffer zone change in Evergreen area

Flathead County commissioners on March 4 approved a zoning map amendment requested by Courtney and Christian Schaefer to change the zoning of a 1.37-acre parcel at 3652 At 604 Monarch Lane from R2 (one-family limited residential) to R5 (two-family residential) within the Evergreen Zoning District.
Larissa Van Reet of the Flathead County Planning Department presented the proposal and noted that the closest existing R5 zoning is about 200 feet to the south and that the planning board voted 5–0 to adopt findings of fact and forward a positive recommendation to the commissioners. The Evergreen Water and Sewer District advised that owners would pay higher connection fees if they later subdivide.
The public hearing attracted no speakers. The board read and adopted the findings of fact covering floodplain considerations, fire and emergency service access (Evergreen Fire District), and utility and subdivision review requirements. After the findings, a motion to approve the Schaeffer zone change (resolution number 797IY) carried by voice vote.
Ending: Planning staff will update county zoning maps and notify relevant agencies of the change.
