Leticia Nelson reported that equalization settlements for Newaygo County are complete and that the 2025 equalization reports are available to the Newaygo County Board of Commissioners.
"Equalization settlements is complete. All 24 townships and 4 cities have all equalized," Nelson said, adding that the 2025 reports "is available to the board of commissioners, on April 23, time of the meeting." She offered to print and bind copies for commissioners who want them.
Nelson said fieldwork selection for agricultural and sales studies for the next year is in progress and that splits and combinations of parcels are currently on hold until county databases are rolled over. She explained that anything processed after the rollover would appear on 2026 tax bills rather than 2025, and that splits remain on hold while the databases are prepared for the new tax year.
The update provided commissioners with the status of technical preparation for next year's assessment work and clarified how timing around the database rollover affects the tax-year assignment of parcel changes.
